Legal Challenge of Named Person Policy

A legal challenge to the Scottish Government’s controversial ‘Named Person’ policy has been launched at the Supreme Court, the highest civil court in the UK. The scheme had been approved as part of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 but was appealed by a number of charities and individuals.

Scottish Government Pledges £3.5 Million Towards End of Life Care

Last week the Scottish Government launched the Strategic Framework for Action on Palliative Care. This announcement follows pressure from charities and public health organisations to improve the end of life care that is provided to patients. A spokesperson from the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) said that high quality end of life care should be a “right for everyone in Scotland.”
