Norwegian government promotes date nights

An increase in divorce rates in Norway has apparently prompted the Norwegian government to encourage married couples to go on date nights, reports the Guardian.

The government is concerned that divorce rates in the country have reached 40%, and couples in the 40 – 44 age group appear to be the most likely to separate or divorce.

The move is being led by minister for children, equality and social inclusion, Solveig Horne, who believes it is important in a relationship to devote time to your partner.

"In a busy life of work and family, the week can feel too short to attend to your relationship with your partner, so each couple needs to decide what sort of a date night they should have, whether it's a night at the movies or a walk together without the kids for a couple of hours," she said, reports the Guardian.
